Kolij Lions roared to a comfortable 49-35 victory over Young Men's Christian Association Wildcats when the Barbados Amateur Basketball Association's Summer Jam tournament continued last night at Harrison College.

The tripleheader turned out to be only two games as the opening match between Northside Ballers and Pelican A was not played. Wildcats steered the opening half 13-7 and 20-14 to take the lead, but Kolij fought back well in the third quarter for a two-point advantage at 26-24 and then went on to claim victory by 14 points.

Kolij Point guard Chikosi Boardi scored 16 points inclusive of triple treys, captain Joniton Fowler contributed 15 while Mark Downie had eight with two consecutive three-point shots. Those three were instrumental in the Kolij fightback
especially in the decisive fourth period in which they scored 23 points to their opponents' 11 that made the world of difference.

Scoring for Wildcats was Primus Walrond with ten points along with captain Joshua Lowe had nine and there were six points each from Jamon Phillips and Tahir Weekes.

Northside Ballers B team were shown no mercy as they were trounced 71-19 (17-4, 45-7, 61-9) when they came up against a lethal Lakers attack. Tariq Inniss led the charge for Lakers with a top score of 17 points, Dashawn Hinkson tallied 12 while Brandon Ruck and David Walkes both netted eight respectively. Sadly, for the Ballers no one made it into double-digits, as Nathan Best with six points emerged as the top scorer. morissalindsay@barbadostoday.bb
